Rick Mizzoni
Rick has over 25 years of experience in the music industry as a performer, writer and, most recently, as a producer/engineer. As a musician, he has played with a vast list of well-known performers such as Val LeRoy, George Canyon, George Fox and the Canadian rock groups The Stampeders, QWEST and "Eighty Four". Rick has also shared stages with acts like BTO, Lonestar, David Lee Murphy and Long John Baldry to name a few. Early in Rick’s recording career he was fortunate to work alongside Canadian Music Hall of Fame inductee Mel Shaw, (1970 Producer of the Year). From there, Rick’s knowledge of the industry and his wide array of contacts have allowed him to work in studios across Canada with many the country's most talented players, engineers and producers such as J. Richard Hutt. In addition, Rick has many years of managerial experience, having operated several music based businesses and the northwest Calgary restaurant, Westrock Bakery and Café.
Val LeRoy
Val spent the early part of her career touring Western Canada in various country, pop and rock bands. Since settling in Calgary, she has won the Alberta Theatre Project’s “Spirit of Patsy Cline” contest and the Southern Alberta Songwriter’s Competition. She has appeared on CFCN’s “One Night Stand”, CBC’s “Rough Cuts”, The A Channel’s “Big Breakfast, RDTV’s “Express”, Kamloops, “CFJC Midday Show”, and CFQC “Entertainment Report” in Saskatoon. She has twice showcased for the Canadian Country Music Association, and has sung at two CFL football games and an NHL game. She opened for Lonestar in 1999 and was part of the lineup for the Say Hay Benefit Concert, along with other Canadian artists such as Jan Arden and Michelle Wright. She has released two CD’s. The first was a four song EP produced by BC’s Tony Rudner. It was released in 1998 and three of the four songs charted on the Canadian Country Music Chart (Country Music News). Her newest CD , “ Waiting for the Sun”, was released in Feb. 2002, and was produced by Rick Mizzoni along with CCMA’s 2000 Producer of the Year, J. Richard Hutt. The first single, “Next Time”, hit the top 50 on the Canadian BDS charts, and her follow-up single, “Radio Up, Windows Down”, was supported by a video on CMT. |
