Bio/History
Jay

Jay Burns

Jay has dedicated most of his adult life to being a professional musician. Spending formidable years in New York City and Winnipeg Manitoba‚ he quickly learned that the most important advice he could keep was‚ "The only people who don’t succeed in the music industry are those that give up".
From starving original acts to bloated cover bands‚ Rock & Roll to Ska‚ local to touring‚ Burns has been part of it. Through it all‚ he has become a unique and intriguing performer and an intense confident front man. Possessing a voice both tender and raw‚ Burns’ passion for performance is clear. His lyrics are generally true to life experiences that echo his life and times directly. He is the atypical combination of aggression and romanticism. With the caliber of musicians that make up Tight White Pants‚ it seems that the future is wide open... assuming he doesn’t give up.
Jay’s Influences:
Ryan Adams‚ Elvis‚ Coldplay‚ Steve Earle‚ Barenaked Ladies‚ Beatles‚ Bon Jovi‚ Springsteen‚ Crowded House‚ INXS‚ Johnny Cash‚ The Killers‚ KISS‚ Lenny Kravitz‚ Lyle Lovett‚ Oasis‚ Simon and Garfunkle‚ Police‚ Queen‚ Rolling Stones‚ The Strokes‚ Tom Petty‚ Willie Nelson‚ U2.

Sheri

Sheri Young

Sheri began her musical career at the tender age of 5 and continued to play classical & pop piano throughout her youth‚ rocking out My Boyfriend’s Back & Doo Wah Diddy in her first band at age 10. In her early twenties‚ she picked up the acoustic guitar and vocals‚ and began to write - hosting open mic jams & performing in duos & trios around Calgary. It was there she met Burns and began to take the industry more seriously. Inspired by his passion for music and his heartfelt original songs‚ she joined his band and has grown from classical pianist and folk artist to sultry rock goddess. With a raspy‚ passionate voice that comes from the soles of her feet she can steal a roomful of hearts‚ but beware..she breaks them all.
Sheri’s Favorites:
Golden Oldies of every variety‚ Sheryl Crow‚ Chopin‚ Billy Joel‚ Madonna‚ Jay Burns‚ The Barenaked Ladies‚ Norah Jones‚ Wil‚ The Beatles‚ No Doubt‚ Ryan Adams‚ Aerosmith‚ Bon Jovi‚ Tegan & Sarah‚ Coldplay‚ Sarah McLaughlin‚ Poison‚ Elton John‚ Kenny & Dolly‚ Garth Brooks‚ Natalie Merchant‚ U2.

David

David Caissy

David has been a professional musician since he was 18 years old. He picked up his first guitar at the age of 14 and hasn’t stopped playing ever since. David studied Jazz at McGill university for two years and played for a number of bands from Orchestras‚ Blues‚ Rock to Country. His career has taken him all over Canada and The United States. Including‚ extensively touring with Pushy Pushy for four years straight. Different projects stemmed from Montreal‚ Vancouver‚ Winnipeg and landed him in Calgary where he currently resides and plays with Tight White Pants. David’s undeniable talent on the guitar and song writting skills commpliment Burns’ great melodies and songs. A fusion of David’s experiences abroad pours into each composition. His love for music shines through.

Joe

Joe Veltri

Joe Veltri has spent the last 18 years of his life in a musical identity crisis. Starting out on drums‚ he climbed his way up to "mediocre" before turning his sights on the guitar. While playing his guitar‚ he couldn’t help but notice that there was something dreadfully important missing. A sort of power of which he couldn’t explain. Through many years of jamming with his friends‚ he one day noticed his guitarists older brother barreling through this old chili peppers tune on a bass guitar. That was it! That was the power that he was missing. He HAD to be that guy. The bass guy. That is where joe’s obsession with large bottom end and "way too loud" stage volume began.Touring from Dawson City‚ Yukon to Montreal‚ Quebec‚ Joe has spent many a year in many acts ranging from folk to heavy rock‚ cover to original and almost anything in between. Also being called upon to do various sessions from Winnipeg to Calgary‚ Joe Veltri has made his point clear that no band can possibly go on without the dynamic thump of a bass guitar‚ or the electric presence of the man playing it. To this day‚ Joe still plays his drums‚ (with the same mediocrity as his youth)‚ his guitars (all 10 of them)‚ and his beloved "betty", the stingray which changed his life.Joe’s Influences:
Bootsy Collins‚ Larry Graham‚ Flea, Geezer Butler‚ Billy Cox‚ Sex Pistols‚ Jimi Hendrix‚ Stevie Ray Vaughan‚ The Police‚ The Black Crowes‚ Greenday‚ No Use For A Name‚ Bad Religion‚ Operation Ivy‚ The Used‚ My Chemical Romance‚ Taking Back Sunday‚ Incubus‚ The Council.

Kent

Kent Macrae

Kent has spent the last 10 years touring and recording throughout North America‚ Europe‚ Scandinavia‚ and Asia. After many years as a "gun for hire"‚ Kent has hung up his holster and landed in Calgary. After leaving the music business (briefly) to peruse a career in an unrelated industry‚ music once again lured Kent in through the original music of Tight White Pants. The band provides an ideal showcase for Kent’s strong backbeat and fluid grooves. When he’s not drumming‚ Kent likes to drink copious amounts of coffee. Otherwise he has been known to read a book‚ catch a flick‚ rock out‚ flambè‚ sautè‚ and frappe (not necessarily in that order)‚ and enjoy time in the mountains.
Kent’s Influences:
Phil Collins‚ Vinnie Coilaiuta‚ Jaco Pastorius‚ Pino Palledino‚ Rush (of course)‚ J.R. Robinson‚ Al Jackson‚ Al Green‚ Willie "Big Eyes" Smith‚ Trilok Gurtu‚ and Glenn Gould.
