Bio/History
Kelly Lannan
Kelly has been an international finalist at the prestigious Mayan World Salsa Championships in 2002 and 2003, which is broadcast worldwide on the internet at www.clubmayan.com, and has been a finalist at world championship salsa events including the WSF World Salsa Championships, the IDO World Salsa Championships, the IHSC Championships, and San Francisco and Montréal International Salsa Competitions. Kelly has been invited to perform and teach at events all over North America including the prestigious Los Angeles World Salsa Congress (hosted by salsa legend Albert Torres). Kelly is the co-director of Salsa Rica Dance Company who in 2002 won the WSF World Salsa Team Championships in Miami with an Alberta–based group of over 22 professional dancers. Kelly has been a feature dancer and choreographer on television, film, and events for crowds of over 50, 000 people and on international networks such as Bravo! Television. Kelly began dancing at age four with training in gymnastics, and later musical theatre and jazz. Kelly has received training in all of the couples dances, and teaches in Calgary full time including coaching some of Canada's top ballet/jazz companies and ice dancers.
Eric Caty
Eric is a former Open North American 10 Dance Champion, and has traveled the world competing at some of the worlds most prestigious dance events including the Ohio Star Ball which has been broadcast on television for the past 20 years, and at the Blackpool Dance Festival which is the largest dance competition in the world. This experience has allowed Eric to coach many of Alberta's top professional couples including some National and World Champions. Eric is the co-director of Salsa Rica Dance Company who in 2002 won the WSF World Salsa Team Championships in Miami with an Alberta based group over 22 professional dancers. Eric has competed and performed at events world wide for the past 20 years and has been a feature dancer and choreographer on film, television, and events of over 50,000 people.
Eric began dancing at the age of six in Montréal, and received training in the Latin and Ballroom dances by some of the worlds top instructors and coaches. He moved to Calgary in 2000 to pursue a very successful Professional Ballroom career, and here was introduced to Salsa in the clubs. Eric quickly fell in love with salsa because of its free and fun social style. Eric quickly became one of salsa's most recognized faces performing in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Vancouver, and Montréal and became coach to some of Canada's top salsa dancers. Eric and Kelly are now known for their dancing together and have been invited to perform, teach, and compete at salsa events all over North America and look forward to representing Calgary and Canada together.
