A lively five member group, The Kimberlites have entertained audiences throughout Western Canada with their unique combination of original and popular cover material. Their Euro-rock style is extremely eclectic and is inspired by traditional European sounds but also contains echoes of bands such as Great Big Sea, Bare Naked Ladies and Buckwheat Zydeco. Generally fast-paced songs, with a dash of softer ballads, incorporate flavours of celtic, zydeco and world pop music. Live performances are always zesty which quickly draw in the audience. Diverse instrumentation, including accordion, harmonica, washboard, congas, Australian didgeridoo, penny whistle and African djembe drum combined with more mainstream bass, acoustic and electric guitars, drums and three part harmonies keep people entertained and dancing. Include audience participation and all the ingredients for an exceptionally fun evening out are at your fingertips. Just mix, stir and bring an appetite. The Kimberlites have released two recordings with a third currently underway. Songs from the last album “Cruise Of The Bigler”, including “I’ve Been Blind”, “Hey Now Listen” and “Endless Time” received regular air-play on CKUA, Shine FM and CBC radio. The Album “Cruise Of The Bigler was nominated album of the year in 1998 by CKUA radio.
