Bio/History

Mark Lorenz is fast becoming one of Canada’s most sought after recording artists. From Airdrie, Alberta this singer/songwriter has been touring across Canada and the United States for the past twelve years having built himself a faithful following and a solid fan base. With his pure country voice and drive to re-invent old country classics, Mark is well on his way to being a household name on the country scene. Living in a farming community, country music was a part of everyday life in the Lorenz family so it is no surprise that Mark decided to seek success in the music world.

His main influences are country legends Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, George Jones and George Strait. He loves to sing the pure country songs these artists made famous. Mark says “Country music is about real life and real times, that’s what I like about it!”

In May 1996, a dream came true for Mark Lorenz with the opportunity to perform on the legendary Grand Ole Opry stage standing on the ‘circle of wood.’ Mark has performed at the Calgary Stampede’s Nashville North, Merritt Mountain Music Festival, Canadian Finals Rodeo and Ivan Daines Country Music Picnick. He has shared the stage with numerous artists including Tracy Byrd, Clay Walker, April Wine, Trooper, Beverley Mahood and Brad Johner. Most recently he had the honour to open for Johnny Reid at the Airdrie Pro Rodeo on Canada Day.

Mark saw the release of his debut CD entitled “Reputation” in 1998. The title track was played on country radio across Canada. The CD to date has sold over 7500 copies. In July 2006, Mark’s sophomore self titled CD was released with nine of the ten songs self penned. The first single “Hillbilly State Of Mind” was released to radio in January 2007.

Mark Lorenz and his band, The Bush Pilots put on a high energy, super charged country show. With state of the art sound and lights, they play a variety of music from the classics, country and rock to today’s new country.
Mark also performs solo acoustically in songwriters circles.
